As far as I know, ODBC cannot talk directly to Oracle.
You need SQL*Net on the PC and SQL*Net on the host, and they have to be both version 1 or both version 2 . You -can- run both version 1 and version 2 on the host at the same time. Also, there are different versions on the PC (such as DOS or Windows) and different protocols (like TCP/IP) that have to exist on both ends. Welcome to the wonderful world of client-server ;`> helena
