Job Description
Good problem solving and diagnostic skills
· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple, concurrent / conflicting priorities.
· Self-driven, highly motivated and have very high standards concerning quality of service delivered and attention to detail, where they lead by example and expect the same behavior of other colleagues.
· Knowledge of ITIL incident and problem management
· Solid Unix and Linux knowledge and practical working experience including Shell scripting (Sun Solaris, Linux)
· Basic knowledge in relational databases (Sybase, Oracle) / query (SQL)
· Network (TCP/IP)
· Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl
· Knowledge of the FIX protocol is beneficial
· Have worked in an Investment Bank front office environment before is a must , & preferably in the Equities Cash space .
Candidate is a confident communicator that can explain technology to non-technical audiences and capable of understanding client / end user issues and translating this into problem statement for further investigations within IT

· Minimum of 7 Years of Total Experience, at least 2 years of Production Support experience and Should be aware of ITIL Processes

Requirement 4: Site Reliability Engineer( Need Candidates with Development Background and Azure/Cloud)
Location: New York City, NY
Job Description
This will be L2 support for the IB Evidence Lab – This is like our DB innovation lab that they have built for IB
This team will be part of TOC but aligned to Dev team. Not actually doing dev work but feeding TOC requirements from a support perspective to the design (dev) teams, deploying the change in Prod and supporting it. Also get the L2 team upto speed to support and monitor the change.
Ideal to have and he understands all these will not fit the price point -
Smart and proactive with good comm. skills
Engineering back ground – dev focused but ready to do L2 as well
Able to support high velocity deployments – 20/30 releases in a day through release automation and orchestration
Automation back ground – Appd & Splunk with strong scripting skills and dash boarding skills.
Azure, Aws, big data experience

Profile Name: Site Reliability Engineer
Role Purpose:
The Site Reliability Engineer is a hybrid engineering role responsible for all aspects of application production support, deployment and monitoring as well as the development of tools to support these activities. The Site Reliability Engineer has the goal of supporting mission critical applications ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and stability are maintained but crucially, should be designing and building tools and solutions that help to automate as many aspects of support as possible such that manual mundane support activity is reduced or eliminated allowing systems to scale readily without similar linear increases in support overhead. The SRE role requires exceptional development and engineering experience and the ability to apply that knowledge to solve the complex problem of running applications reliably at scale.
The Site Reliability Engineer should spend a considerable portion of his or her time developing new tools to solve existing problems in the production environment – where possible these tools should be designed with reuse across the wider organisation in mind.
The Site Reliability Engineer also defends our business and reputation by ensuring the integrity and security of our production platforms at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
· Scope: Application Support: - To take responsibility for the running of critical production applications ensuring that SLAs in relation to availability, stability, security and performance are met at all times. Where systems deviate from normal behaviour, to take responsibility for troubleshooting these issues working with Development teams / infrastructure services teams, 3rd parties to resolve issues and restore normal service.
· Scope: Deployment & Orchestration: To manage the deployment of new versions of software into the production landscape , ensuring appropriate quality stage gates have been met ( QA , Regression , performance testing etc ) To ensure new systems / services deployed can be integrated to existing monitoring and management tools so that the performance of the service and deviations from normal are easily anticipated and instrumented.
· Scope: Operation and support - Build and enhance tools that instrument the quality of services from the perspective of the end users , allow us to measure easily against defined SLAs , to identify bottlenecks in our systems and that alert us to abnormal behaviours of the platform proactively. Engineer solutions that allow the plant to operate as autonomously as possible (Process orchestration, application instrumentation /alerting).

Select, implement & introduce best in class technologies & practices to keep SDLC optimal and current
Deep understanding of the challenges of maintaining and running complex mission critical, client facing platforms.
Willingness to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas that will remove or reduce manual effort in relation to operating large production systems at scale.
Design of solutions (Monitoring / process orchestration / capacity management / deployment) that not only scale but can potentially be leveraged by other parts of the organisation.
Key Deliverables
· To ensure production systems run reliably at all times, that availability, performance and business process SLAs are met or exceeded.
· Deliver engineering solutions that improve instrumentation. Ease of deployment , service orchestration and other aspects of production support – reduce the burden of manual work involved as systems and user volumes scale.
· Ensure we adhere to all UBS standards and policies in relation to IT Security / Technology risk, Data confidentiality and integrity.
· Partner with service transition managers / development leads and architects to ensure designs of new applications meet expected standards in relation to Site reliability. Ensure non-functional production support requirements are considered early in the lifecycle of all new applications.
