Yes, it's possible to package Oracle binaries for Solaris (or indeed any other Unix). Obviously a box where you package them should be pretty close to what you'll be installing them on (OS version, patches). Re-link the binaries after pkgadd or put this into postinstall script.

You should also check if you will be supported. I have a mixed experience here. One site, I worked at, was told they wouldn't be supported, other two were happily using this installation method. Maybe that's where size matters; the latter two are very big Oracle customers.
