Simplistically speaking -- SQL Server is easier to set up and
manage. Oracle is more flexible and powerful. It is
comparable to the difference
between ease of learning and ease of use.

Three years ago SQL Server outsold Oracle on NT. For the past two years

Oracle has outsold SQL Server on NT. Oracle has a commanding lead.

what's the strenght

The application areas are quite similar. The difference is that
SQL Server is used mostly in smaller organizations, i.e. small
and medium sized companies and departments in large companies
while Oracle is the
RDBMS of choice where a larger organization wants to standardize
on one
	RDBMS across the entire organization.

In terms of numbers of installations it is probably NT. In terms of value

        I believe it is Unix.
