I always install the base release with the RU into a new oracle home. runInstaller -applyRU (need to add the latest OPatch into $NEW_ORACLE_HOME/OPatch before running). Then just datapatch after like you normally would.

Hi All,

I have been using Out-of-Place patching using opatchauto (2 step method).

However, I was wondering if it was possible to switch to a freshly installed new home, rather than one cloned from the existing home? I'm looking to clean up the home rather than continually carry cruft forward, but like the functionality opatchauto provides.

(I know how to do this in other ways, just wondering if it was something opatchauto could support).

Thanks,
Charlotte
