Configuring RMANYou have to create the catalog. Check the docs to see how to do this. In 8.1.7 I think it is simply >create catalog. Then you have to register the databases you want to use this catalog for, etc. The docs are quite good.

I am implementing RMAN in an RH AS 2.1 environment on Oracle 8.1.7 and at the prompt
When using rman catalog rman/rman_at_orcl

I get rman: can't open catalog

I recreated the password file and the same error.
