Import 8.1.6 to 9.2.0.1 weirdness "Karen Morton" <oracledba_at_morton

Hello,
There are a bunch of very strange things with Export/Import these days, we had a tar open
For years. Metalink does have some recommendations for exp imp for 11i databases, the document is updated from time to time(tends to get bigger too), so always try to find the latest version. Problems have been addressed in every new release, so from 8.1.6 to 9.2 a lot of stuff has changed, check out the release notes and readmes from 8.1.7.* on up, always an export/import section. It doesn't stop in 9.2.0.1, and just guessing here will not stop in 9.2.0.3. Clob, iot, AQ and other "newer" object types may cause some challenges. If you come across an issue, please oracle users, itar each issue, ask that every "new" feature, object type, Etc. be completely tested with exp/imp. Having to use a big hammer to import, just doesn't sound like the exp imp programs are fixed yet.
Just 2 cents worth.
Best,
-john
