When you re-installed the client, did you delete the Oracle client software
key in the registry? You really need to delete this before you re-install.
Thanks,
Frank

Subject: OT: Problem trying to create Oracle ODBC DSN
All,
One of our user groups is running a 3rd party software
application which currently only runs on Oracle 8.0.5.
The application is installed on a Windows 98 PC, as
was the Oracle 8.0.5 client software. An ODBC
datasource name was created for use in connecting to
the database. All was fine until one user began to
experience ODBC error problems when performing some
operations, namely update and some types of retrieve
operations. She recently had another new software
(java-based) application installed on her desktop.
She is the only one experiencing this problem. I
de-installed the Oracle client software, then did a
re-install, rebooted, set-up the tnsnames file but now
the ODBC 32 administrator will not complete the setup
to create the datasource name for the connection. The
sqlplus connection to the database works. When you go
to add datasource name, the driver name is there but
when selected it does not prompt you to enter connect
data, does not issue error message ... it just
disappears.. It did not seem to have a problem with
trying to create a MS Access DSN. Anyone experience
similar problems like this? If so, what did you do to
resolve it?
TIA, Tina
