I've seen the "giving up" message before when mounting the Oracle CD via
pfs_mount. And yes, I always use the 'rrip' qualifier. Actually there is a
note on Metalink about it that says "you need the NFS deamons running to get PFS
to work". I talked to my SA who after a minute of reading documentation agreed.
He started the NFS deamons and sure enough pfs_mount worked in seconds.

Hi
This pfs mount for Oracle 8 CD's is a pain.
nohup /usr/sbin/pfs_mountd &
nohup /usr/sbin/pfsd 4 &
pfs_mount /dev/dsk/c0t1d0 /cdrom

Warning! possible dumb question may follow... you have been warned:
When you guys and gals mount your Oracle CDs, do you use the -rrip flag for the pfs_mount command? HP documentation seems to indicate this is for the Rockridge format. Any thoughts or gotchas? The CD mounts just fine with a regular mount, but won't mount with the pfs_mount command. Just says "Giving up".
HP-UX 11.0
Oracle 7.3.4.2
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
