Umesh,

I know you mentioned "stopped responding", but I am curious whether it was Oracle that was not responding or the system itself. Anyhow, I hope you did try to bring the system down in the normal documented methods. Just powering it off may have caused the slice corruption. Something to avoid at all costs.

Hopefully you have already put in a call into Sun Support, if not please do that. In a situation like this (when you are unable to mount your primary root partition due to corruption), booting off your cdrom is probably a way out. It has been a while since I have had the need to do this, so I am unable to provide all the required commands. boot -s /cdrom or something like that rings a bell. Please research this and make sure you have all the information before you try anything. Again, you need to call Sun Support and have them walk you through the process.
