From what I have seen from your posts so far ... you and your peers in your organizaion need some time to practice backups and recoveries using rman, work on your knowledge base and your experience level.

Whether you use rman or not ... database backups and recoveries are complicated tricky things that need time and repeated doses of practice to get and keep up to speed.

Read the books and practice and get a dedicated test environment where you can make mistakes that are not catastrophic.

Rman had it's issues and was very buggy way back when. That time is well past. Time to get with the program.

Buy Robert Freeman's and Matt Hart's book if you want to but take the time to read, learn, and practice. Don't just take canned solutions that someone has provided.

Just my 2 cents. Received on Thu Mar 26 2009 - 19:20:08 CDT
