I don't have any hands-on experience with vm, but know several people who do. I do have experience with Oracle on Windoze vs. *nix. I'd guess the fundamental problem is with Windows, not vm. I've never run Oracle on a Windows box (without vm) that didn't require regular restarting to clear up memory leaks.
