On occasion, I have used an older metadata file when I knew that the only thing that changed in the tablespace was the rows of data in the tables. So this may just work for you. You should test it out for your specific case.
If you do your export one day while the tablespace is READ ONLY, and you make the datafile copies the next day and the tablespace has been READ ONLY the whole time, then there is nothing to worry about.
That being said, any reason why you can't make the metadata dump file anew? It only takes a minute....
