Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> hangcheck_reboot=1
All,
I have done a number of RAC installs on various Linux/Unix flavors. I have recently come across an install done by Oracle Consulting Services in which the person building the RAC added the following to / etc/modprobe.conf
options hangcheck_timer hangcheck_reboot=1
This build was on a RHEL4 2.6.9-55.ELsmp kernel. I don't recall seeing this particular mod in the install guide for 10.2.0.x RAC on Linux. The only hangcheck references in the install guides and notes out on the web are for doing something similar to the following to start the module located in the directories of the current kernel version:
# insmod /lib/modules/<kernel_version>/kernel/drivers/char/hangchecktimer.
ko
hangcheck_tick=30 hangcheck_margin=180
In the preceding command example, the variable kernel_version is the
kernel
version running on your system.
My question is: Why did the Oracle consultant add this: "options hangcheck_timer hangcheck_reboot=1" to /etc/modprobe.conf?
Cheers,
