One could also ask why so many people on this newsgroup are so patronising and condescending to those who aren't running (with NDA of course) Oracle 14k on a Cray 115ZZP (whose existence they can't discuss - NSA restrictions you know) in a dataserver centre that has 15 petabyte db's as standard, couldn't one?

Would that be nice too?

Indeed the question from the OP leads me to wonder whether they need Oracle at all, and whether they couldn't learn what they are enquiring about from an Open Source db, which would run on an older machine, not have any licence issues and still have a *_lot_* to teach about the basics of db's.
