You presume each and every employer is willing and able to 'cough up' for the additional license required for a standby database; many aren't, which kills your argument before it starts. One works within the parameters one is given; simply because your company decided to buy the additional licenses and hardware doesn't make you any better of a Senior DBA than Sybrand, Mladen, Joel, Daniel or myself. It only make you more fortunate.

When you have a *real* deciding argument over who is the 'better' Senior DBA I'll listen.
