SUMMARY
Manages the design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of all Oracle databases, Oracle applications and other areas of database administration, including PeopleSoft, Oracle Email and Oracle Portal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for PeopleSoft/Oracle DBA support of production, test and development environments.

Responsible for Oracle Portal DBA support of production, test and development environments.

Administers database security, database backups/recovery and perform database monitoring, analysis and optimization of all database environments.

Designs, plans and implements the Oracle database environments.

Responsible for properly sizing and configuring databases and their associated tables.

Responsible for on-site weekday DBA customer support activities (primarily 8am - 5pm)

Responsible for providing production support in a 24x7 environment (in addition to on-site weekday activities).

Coordinate, administer and perform installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of the Oracle database environments.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of database standards, policies and procedures, change management standards and policies and ensuring consistency between these and the environments. Responsible for formulating recommendation improvements in these areas.

Responsible for the implementation and support of security measures and products, including activities such as database hardening, vulnerability assessment and patch management.

Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of complicated issues within the applications, software/hardware in database environments.

Evaluate, recommend and use software tools to monitor and manage database health and performance.

Plan, coordinate, configure and implement Oracle database and Oracle application patches and upgrades.

Responsible for defining and maintaining capacity plans, disaster recovery plans and facilities for the database environments.

Responsible for training and mentoring other team members through knowledge transfer.

Responsible for monitoring database environments for proper operation within established performance and availability expectations.

Responsible for working with Systems Administrators to properly size and configure servers for Oracle databases and Oracle application servers.

Responsible for advanced configuration of database environments for database level backup/restore technologies and troubleshooting configuration problems.

Maintenance of SQLServer database probably.

Maintain current knowledge of trends and future direction in technology as it relates to area of responsibility.

Assist with justifications for operating and capital budgets.

Prepare and present technical reports and feasibility studies.

Develop strategic technical implementation plans and work plans for technical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science or related area required, OR significant work related experience in all job requirements for this position may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two (2) years experience as database administrator, in a production environment required.

PeopleSoft/Oracle DBA experience required.

Experience with Oracle Portal required.

Experience with Oracle Dataguard and standby databases required.

Oracle Upgrade experience required.

Solaris experience is required.

PeopleSoft 8.x experience required.

PeopleSoft Upgrade experience required.

TOAD experience preferred.

Veritas Net Back-up experience preferred.

Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity planning and implementation experience using a remote environment required.

Experience working in a team environment required.

Legato Backup System experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Oracle 9i and/or 10g in a Solaris and Windows NT environment required.

PeopleSoft experience required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent customer support demeanor required.
