They do ... all the time. But unlike some other software giants, one of which comes to mind immediately ... they don't intentionally break earlier releases just to force a sale.

If you know how to implement it without breaking backward compatibility send your resume to Mark Townsend. No doubt he'd be happy to add you to his team. ;-)
