To be honest I am chasing a weird problem regarding my web
applications. Originally we used PostgreSQL, but started to migrate
them to Oracle 10G. I used PHP compiled against the Oracle client
downloaded from technet. It seemed to run smoothly but PHP quite
randomly started to halt in the middle of generating the page. This
happens with every single application using Oracle and does not happen
with any of the rest using PostgreSQL. On the same computer, under
Fedora Core, same PHP, same Apache. That is why I thought about using
their Zend Oracle package but it uses the instant client. I do not
really care about the client, I just want to get my applications
working.
