I was going to stay out of this but you've hit a hot button.

In theory what you say is true. But in reality we know it is not.

While I will acknowledge using vanilla Oracle functionality you likely will see no issues ... move to RAC or Grid Control other pieces of the puzzle and this is clearly not the case.

The answer to the OP should be ... "depends" ... which most often is the correct answer to any question asked.
