Jack, the information you seek is in the Concepts manual.  Using
version 9.2 see Chapter 1 under Transaction Overview and Read
Consistency.



Ch 16 Transaction Management.



Ch 20 Data Concurrency and Consistency covers rollback segments and
locking in more detail.
