Our production is running on vxfs/odm, and we are very happy with it.

We are building a 'test' box, which will run on linux file systems

I understand you don't want to run ext3 in journaling mode for oracle datafiles/redo..

Do you want to do it at least for control/binaries?

Also, what about system crashes.. we are looking at 2TB+ file system

The oracle paper out there, doesn't actually show much of a difference:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/pdf/Linux-FS-Performance-Comparison.pdf

We will be running 9i.

Thanks.
.......
We run Oracle 9.2.0.6 on RH4 AMD
