Windows XP Pro ? That's a workstation version of Windows. Why not Windows
Server 2003 ?
If I were you, I would definitely follow a "new features" course, since
Oracle 10g is in a lot of aspects very different than 8i (ASM, Flashback
logs, UNDO tablespace, Grid Control, Automatic Memory Manager, Data Pump,
...). Please DO NOT upgrade "quick and dirty", only to find out some weeks
later : "oh no we better did it that way" ....
