You were right.  The listener.ora file was pointed to a previous IP
that had been assigned via DHCP.  When the address changed we had
problems.  I changed the name to point to the name of the computer and
then did a 'lsnrctl start' and the listener started.



Next question:



What is the sql command to assign DBA privileges to a user?
