I've had similar problems with the new metalink. It takes 2 - 4 minutes
to authenticate and between 2 and infinity minutes to get search
results back. Oracle may have made metalink look cool but the
reliability, usefulness, and usability of metalink took a giant step
back.



It now appears that google.com has become a more effective medium at
diagnosing Oracle problems than Oracle's own support site.
