Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Re: 2x opteron single core or 1xdual core CPU server for Oracle?
Oracle apparently has just released an update to the multi core
pricing.
Examples:
Sun Fire T2000 Server with one 1.2 GHz UltraSPARC T1 processor (with 8
cores) will require 8*0.25 = 2 Processor licenses
Sun Fire T2000 Server with one 1.2 GHz UltraSPARC T1 processor (with 4
cores) will require 4*0.25 = 1 Processor licenses
HP Integrity rx7620-16 Server with 8 Intel Itanium 2 processors (dual
cores) will require 8*2*0.5 = 8 Processor licenses
HP ProLiant DL145 G2 with two AMD Opteron 200 Series dual-core
processors Model 280 will require 2*2*0.5 = 2 processor license
All these changes are retroactive, so no license migration is necessary.
This apparently makes a machine with 2 separate single processors twice as expensive as a machine with 1 dual core AMD or INTEL processor. Received on Mon Dec 19 2005 - 13:17:10 CST
