We are running all of our hp 11.x/oracle 9.2.x installations with jdk 1.4.x without any problems. Beside this there were some bugs we were running into with jdk 1.3.x and opatch/cpu october 05. Oracle recommended then to upgrade to jdk. 1.4.x
