Thanks for your kind reply. It is not DSS, they are not summaries,
they are like stock charts plotted for a period of 2 years on many
stock symbols. There are many other queries that support time period
(e.g historical prices). The time period is chosen by user.
OS = Linux, about 100 concurrent users, dedicated server, Middle tier machine runs JSP issues queries on backend, db machine has 8 Gigs RAM, SQL is well tuned. OEM Performance Manager and ADDM reports shows bottle necks in IO. I am not using recylce pool. I have two IO controllers controlling 16 15K RPM drives. SGA = 2.7 Gigs, buffer cache = 1 Gig; log buffer about 10 M, all files are well striped. The db machine also runs several batch jobs (updates every 15 minutes). The batch updates as many as 10 million rows, lots of DML.
I am not aware that recycle pool can help with DML. Could you please shed some light?
