Re: Oracle versus Informix Spatial

Probably, als always, it depends on what you want to do. I'm not working with Informix Spatial. But after a look to the user's guide, from my GIS point of view (dealing with geo-referenced spatial data) to me Informix seems less powerful than Oracle Spatial:

• less different spatial data types (only point, line and polygon, no curves, oriented points, rectancles, circles)
• not the vast number of coordinate systems and (map) projections of Oracle Spatial, which is especially useful in a GIS environment
• GIS support: only ESRI's ArcGIS, Oracle Spatial is supported by more

Probably a close comparisons of the two user's guides will lead to more points...
