Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> RMAN Delete Obsolete Effect on CFRKT
Hello,
In Oracle 9i using RMAN to file without OMS (i.e. using the controlfile), if a DELETE OBSOLETE command removes BOTH the physical files and the controlfile entry why not make CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF n DAYS and CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME (CFRKT) the same (say 30)?
More clearly, if DELETE OBSOLETE was to just remove the physical file and retain the record of the backup based on just the CFRKT I can see making them different. Perhaps setting the RECOVERY WINDOW OF n DAYS to 7 and CFRKT to 30.
In my tests though, when I perform a DELETE OBSOLETE it seems to be removed from the controlfile too.
Thanks for your advice,
