WHAT REDNICKS WANT TO HEAR

He took out his billard balls and stick, rubbed it real good on the chalk,
asked me to lay out the cue,
roll it back and forth, just a little,
lift it up and let him shoot.

I told him, "I'm not good at this game." He insisted, anyway,
brought me his best cue stick
and offered it to me.

I told him, "Put it away,
can't you see I'm drunk
like a glutton in blood."

He returned anxiously,
brought me his trophies,
said I could have them,
If I just tried.

I ignored him, he cried,
shaking his stick up and down
not knowing how to stop.

I pitied him,
took his offering,
then gave him mine,

a tight tray to fit his balls
like Jesus' legs crossed,
a smooth cloth to clean up the blood
like the hand that stopped Abraham from killing his son, and a kiss that said, "These things have I done that you might believe."
