Thanks. This will give me some bedtime reading for a day or 16.
So far my conclusion is that, other than having several additional editions over Oracle, the extra price option set seems quite similar.
Which, on first glance, means it really comes down to the basic internals - security, locking and partitioning being the most obvious - to highlight the differences in development, therefore tuning and DBA.
