Assuming that typical SAN configuration includes a storage unit like EMC CX500. The JBOD goes without a storage unit (Oracle 10g ASM does RAID 10). Also ordinary SCSI disks could be used instead of SAN fiber disks.
And if not expensive, then at least more complex than JBOD. A storage unit, management softwares etc. If using JBOD and ASM, everything could be controlled from Oracle's the enterprise manager.
