OK I get it now!
I used Roger Schrag's recipe here:

And as I have the apache user, and apache, ready and waiting, I have tested the startup script which actually does start apache as well as oracle and the listener.
Gonna comment it out cos dont need it now, but someone might switch it on later.

Best practice or what!
