Would this be RAID-5? How about your redo device? Are the data and redo on the same controller? Are both instances in archivelog mode?

A motorcycle might beat a Greyhound bus in a drag race, but the bus might transport 90 flood refugees across the country faster. (In other words, the test might have quite different results under multiuser load).
