What you are looking at is information from oracle for security quarterly patches.

Lots of opinions about how good and effective ( or NOT ) these security patches are.

If you want to get up to date, then yes you have to patch.

I don't think you can patch from 9.2.0.4 however.

I believe you have to get up to 9.2.0.6 or possibly ? 9.2.0.5 before you can apply that security patch.

Getting up to 9.2.0.6 ( maybe 9.2.0.7 is now available for AIX ) is done by applying patchsets not patches.

Patchsets get installed via the OUI but patches get installed via opatch.

Is there someone else in your organization that is knowledgeable about oracle maintenance and how to proceed?

If not then I think you better at least start by opening a TAR with oracle support, or pay somebody to help you plan on what to do and how to do it and why to do it. Received on Wed Oct 19 2005 - 11:51:10 CDT
