Just because metalink or the docs say how to do something, doesn't cancel licensing restrictions - nothing stopping you from installing partioning with no license, for example. That's fair enough, but the licensing and laws are abusive on their face.

The practical effect boils down to Larry's mood at the moment. If he can maintain a 40% margin over the next few years, his mood might remain pretty good and nobody has anything to worry about short of temerarious theft of intellectual property.
