How to get Ora8 or 9 OLEDB provider to use Ora8 OCI Calls

Is there a way to get the Oracle 8i or Oracle 9i OLEDB provider to use the Oracle8i OCI calls?
The current version appears to use the oracle 7 OCI calls.
