handling long dbtype in backup

Hi,



I'm running Oracle 8.17 and i wanted to use a dynamic sql script to
backup a table.  This isnt a problem except when dealing with long
dbtype.  Is there a way to get around longs without using system calls
to do EXP or PLsql?
