Here's a suggestion.
Don't upgrade all 3 things at once. If something goes broke, you won't know what it was.
Instead do the following
1) install same version of ora on new server
2) create a standby database (you might want to upgrade to 8.1.7.5
prior)
3) migrate via standby database (the actuall miigration should take
you under few mins, stopping apps, changing tnsnames.ora files (or
oracle name server), applying the last log, and changing db from
standby to active
4) if all OK (after a few days), upgrade to 9i, which is like an hour
of work

We use Oracle 8.1.7.4 and 9.2.0.5 on Solaris 2.7 boxes
