cannot run setup.exe

I am sure this has been discussed many times but after searching the message archives in this group, I am still clueless.

I am trying to install Oracle 9iR2 on a laptop with: Windows XP Professional 2002 version, Service Pack 1 Intel P4 1.80GHz, 512Mb RAM

I didn't get any error message when I run setup; it just died. I don't know what I have in the laptop that is causing this problem. I have installed it a few times on other machines with no problem whatsoever. From what I have read so far, 9iR2 is supported on Windows XP Professional Edition.
