10g installation on Suse SLES 9

All,

I have a fresh install of SLES-9 fully patched on 32 bit Intel server. (30 day trial, downloaded).
orarun has been installed (orarun-1.8-109.5.i586.rpt from CD

All requirements are met as per Oracle documentation.

During 'Linking Oracle Net Required Support Files 10.1.0.3.0' I get an 'Error in invoking target "client_sharedlib" of makefile '...ins_net_client.mk'.

The details from the make.log indicate the following:

$ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh
make: execvp: $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh: Permission denied

make: [client_sharedlib] Error 127.

A similar error is subsequently reported when linking other packages and installation fails.

Any ideas?
