So it's been proven:

1. the bug is NOT there in Oracle;
2. it is there in asp + adodb + oracle.

Logic tells me there is something wierd in the translation BEFORE it gets to Oracle.

So why blame Oracle? You might complain to the asp + adodb folk to fix it!

3) your idea of fun is consistent with the rest of your logic.
