Sorry, thought it must be a pretty common occurrence to upgrade from 8.1.x to 9.2 and get these sort of issues.

Looked at again at what you were asking and I thought that I answered all the questions as using the slash /, seems to have covered all your queries reference ops$ prefix etc.

From one machine using the / in SQLplus to indicate the currently logged on user (NT) pointing to a 8.17 database and it works, upgraded 9.2 and it does not.

It is a virgin 9.2 database with no changes to init.ora
