I have managed to create an oracle user an give him the SYSOPER
priviledge. Now he can shutdown a database but I had to change
something in the TNSNAMES.ORA file and put SERVER=DEDICATED. I was
getting an error that the user could not shut down the database because
it was connected using a shared connection.
On the issue of why do we want our operators to be able to shutdown databases: there are various reasons like Jonathan said and also there are some strange policies around here :) Received on Wed Jan 26 2005 - 01:37:12 CST
