I didn't start the thread. I only started answering when the poster was discouraged by other posters. The topic is recurryng so it made sense to participate for once.
If IBM were not supporting the SQL Standard I would not be working for IBM (there is more money to be made as a consultant). My allegiance is first to the standard and only second to IBM. But I agree that this thread has run its course and perhaps veered away from the original topic.
