I have two processes that we run regularly that are very IO intensive. The first takes 135 minutes with direct IO off. It takes 210 minutes with direct IO on. The second takes 45 minutes with it off and 57 with it on. I ran the test several times switching back and forth.

I also ran a series of reports that normally are ran on our system. The times below show the difference.

Oracle is 8.1.7.4 64bit version
VXFS is version 3.5
