Dare one ask why this combination?
It's all well and good experimenting with non-supported combinations of things. We generally learn lots by doing so. But it does strike me as a bit ambitious to pit a practically archaic Oracle version against a practically beta operating system. There are more sensible combinations that are do-able with much less fuss (8i with RH8 or RH9, for example; or 10g and FC1 or FC2).
The phrase 'new wine in old wine skins' springs to mind. Or in your case, perhaps the other way around. In either case, it gets messy. Or tasteless.
