Yes, the home directory of the linux user being set up for oracle, contains a .bash_profile file, which has entries for

ORACLE_BASE
ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_SID
ORACLE_TERM

DISABLE_HUGETLBFS
LD_LIBRARY_PATH
