but since I'm the nostalgic type, I'm thinking more a console that looks more like the bridge of the original enterprise, with Scottys voice for the alerts. "Theres only a few wee extents left captain, I doan think she'll hold together much longer"
but then again a full screen animated graphic of T'oppal or 7 of 9 reading alerts/alarms has some appeal as well...
